Is there someone in your life, now or in the past, who you can try to forgive? Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting or excusing the person from the behavior. It means to release yourself from the hold this person has on you in the form of hurt and anger. Writing a letter to someone who has wronged you is a positive step towards healing yourself and living a better life. Understand that the letter may not erase your hurt instantly but overtime, with awareness of this hurt and your continued work on releasing negative emotions, the pain will become less and less.
Try this: Find a quiet place and take some deep breaths. Write the letter not from a place of hurt or anger but focus more on any good experiences you may have had with this person. Think about the ways he or she may have positively influenced your life. Once you have the letter completed, choose to keep it, give it to the person or discard it, whatever you think will help you feel most mended.
